I was walking to the candy shop one night, suddenly I saw someone carrying a knife threating another youth, I slightly heard the conversation and the boy with the knife asked the other person if he had money and a phone. I walked away because I didn't want to get involved and hurt, I was wondering as I was walking home, why do teenagers carry knifes and what causes them to carry it.

Why do teenagers get involved in knife crime?
Teenagers has been involved a lot of crimes lately, specifically knife crimes. The few reasons that causes teenagers to get inolved with knife crimes are such as family problems, bad life at school and getting influenced by someone who's bad. Some teenagers just want to fit in, so they join gangs and hang around with bad people, and some teenagers think that by killing someone and having a knife gives them power.

Education
 Most teenagers that are involved in knife crime gets bad grade at school because either they're not doing well or they think they have no future, so they waste their young life on things that makes them happy such as shop lifting, robbing innnocent kids and cause some chaos at night.

How knife crime can be stopped
This is why I think teenagers get involved in knife crime, and the best solution for this is to show the teens what kind of life they can get from committing these crimes.Their parents also needs to be aware of this because most teens that are involved in knife crime don't tell their parents where they're going and what they do, I think if they're parents know then the child would stop this.

Money
Teenagers are mostly interested in money, that's why they choose to do anything to get their hands on money. They get told do something in order to get a amount of money, the more dangerous the crime the more money they get. This can be caused because mabye their parents don't give their child any money.

Technology/Items
In our generation a lot of new technology has been released and when a teen wan't that item, they usually ask their parents for money but if they don't they get it their own way. They can get the money for it or get it for a cheaper price by hanging around with gang members and doing deeds for them to get rewards.
